GONG THERAPY
"The gong is arguably the ultimate sound healing tool, as it has the broadest range of tones of any instrument. The vast range of sound literally bathes the human form and re-tunes us on every level... physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual,
thus bringing us back into harmony." Sheila Whittaker

GONGS CHANGE TIME AND LOCALITY. THEY PROVIDE A PORTAL TO AN ACOUSTIC EXPERIENCE JOURNEY OF INWARD REFLECTION.
Gong therapy is the practice of using sound and listening in a mindful manner to transform and expand consciousness in order to enhance the body’s natural drive to regenerate and heal. One of the main goals of each session is to help you enter into a deepened state of relaxation and mindful meditation. Multiple gongs and mallets are used to bring out the full spectrum of beneficial vibrations and frequencies as we share space together. Just as a body massage works out tight and knotted muscles, the sonic massage of the gong works out emotional issues that we need to release in order to move forward in life. The listener only has to let go and let the sound of the gongs do the work. The experience is effortless and the results can be profound.
The gong supports a profound shift in our brainwave state through a process called entrainment. As our inner experience of reality is entrained by the sound, our consciousness and inner awareness expand, and our “rational-objective mind” becomes an aware yet passive observer. Similarly as in our sleeping hours, during the entering of ALPHA, THETA, and DELTA brainwave states, our physical body receives the opportunity to renew or restore its immunological system, endocrine system, and central nervous system; receiving a temporary rest from the mental and emotional fatigue. This opens the possibility for a change in consciousness that creates an inner sense of balance, harmony, and well-being.

SIMPLY PUT… ONCE WE ALLOW OURSELVES TO GET PAST OUR ANALYTICAL MINDS, THE GONG CAN ASSIST US IN MOVING INTO OUR TRUE PEACEFUL NATURE, FOUND IN THE PRESENT MOMENT, THE ETERNAL NOW.

Gong Therapy is offered to fully clothed guests as they lie comfortably on a well-appointed therapy table. Every session is started with a present moment invitation connecting mind and body. Initially, each gong is played very softly; as the session progresses, the volume is gradually increased, but never to uncomfortable levels. The rhythm and style of playing are changed frequently to avoid producing a fixed, monotonous rhythm. Let Gentle Earth take you on this soothing journey within, promoting deep relaxation and transformation while your entire body is immersed in pure vibration and the sound of the gong. Leave feeling refreshed with a profound sense of wholeness and integration unlike that of any other therapeutic experience.

Practitioner Note: In the United States, numerous providers of educational services in the field of sound therapy use the term “Certification” or "Licensed" in relation to their in-person and online course offerings. It is important to understand that “Certification” or "Licensed" implies a legal term, which requires a professional organization to register and be overseen by a State-Approved Professional Board of Ethics and Efficacy in their established field.
There are extraordinary hurdles to this reality. For instance, each state in which a therapeutic method is practiced must have a State-Approved Board of Certification and Oversight Board for the ethics and efficacy of practitioners in that organization. To date, this practitioner is not aware of any sound therapy courses or organizations that meet the legal requirements for “Certification" or "Licensing." It is, however, legal to offer a “Certificate of Training” for someone who has paid for and attended so many hours of training and what the content of that training was. However, this has no legal weight as to the certified efficacy as a practitioner nor obedience to a State-Approved Professional Board of Ethics.

In today's modern world, anyone can purchase instruments online or through local retail shops and label themselves a "Sound Healer." For a financial investment, one can take a short class foundationally designed to sell participants instruments. Regretfully, this does not entail actual academic learning, nor does it further the legitimacy, research, field study, or factual education in the field of Sound Therapy. As a practitioner, I join colleagues nationwide in continuing to improve the professional efficacy and ethics of this field through peer-reviewed published scientific studies while educating those that would seek my services.
